This charming two-story cottage in North Hills holds a lifetime of memories within its walls. With 3 bedrooms and 1 bath, it's a place where my childhood unfolded in the most magical, ordinary ways. The original hardwood floors still carry the echoes of sock-sliding races and, yes, more than a few daring rides down the stairs on sleeping bags (I can confirm--they were fast).
The updated kitchen now shines with modern touches but still feels like the heart of the home. To me it will always be where lemonade was carefully stirred for front-yard stands, cooking lessons happened under close supervision, and where countless PB&J's were made to share with friends and neighbors.
The main level features two cozy bedrooms, while upstairs offers a third bedroom - plenty of space for hosting our countless unforgettable sleepovers. The second level also features a multipurpose open living space that has served as space for a bonus bed, part reading nook, part imagination headquarters, and part karaoke studio. Plus, there's a huge closet upstairs and extra attic storage, perfect for keeping treasures, keepsakes, or seasonal gear organized.
And then there's the basement - a large, unfinished space full of possibility. It houses the laundry area (where chores were often negotiated amongst us kids), a bonus toilet for extra convenience, a workshop area, and open space where your imagination can run wild. For us, it was everything from a ''schoolroom'' with stuffed animal students to a ping pong arena--and even home to an office at one point.
Outside is where so much of life happened. The backyard hosted campouts under the stars, complete with whispered stories and flashlight beams dancing across tent walls. It was also the perfect backdrop for prom photos--serving us well through every stage of life. The neighborhood itself was our playground--rolling hills perfect for rollerblading and biking adventures and dogwood-lined streets that felt especially magical in the spring.
And just beyond the backyard, the neighborhood park was an extension of home. We spent winter mornings in snowball fights, spring days walking amongst the flowers, summer evenings catching fireflies, and fall afternoons playing in the leaves. A place for play, for quiet moments, and for growing up alongside neighbors who became lifelong friends.
Set in the historic North Hills neighborhood, this home is wrapped in charm, community, and the kind of warmth that can't be staged.
A place where my childhood unfolded beautifully... and it's ready for the next chapter to begin.
